I must do it while my stomach is empty, If I have breakfast or dinner, then I have to wait 3 hours, if I snack, then I wait 30 minutes. I am also supposed to be rested before I do it, never do it while you are tired or on a full stomach.
As a general rule, I do it for 25 minutes, but all you have to do is do it for 15 minutes every day, and you will be fine, by the time you finish doing it, you will have achieved peace and also be ready for your daily tasks. After a while, you will need to do it every day, since it will give you peace and strength to do everything you have to do every day, The day I don't do it I miss that peace, and most importantly, energy to do everything I have to do during the day. Many books teach you how to meditate step by step for example; Meditation and its Practices, by Swami Adiswarananda, Which I read myself and I think it is an excellent book. You should be able to find more books on the subject at Amazon.com, or on a Bing or Google search. | Meditation | Inner Peace | Serenity | Tranquility | Peace of Mind | By the time you finish reading one of those books, you should be an expert on how to practice meditation; that will make your day way easier, not to mention more productive. As I said, it will give you peace and energy you need to do everything you have to do every day, every week of every month. In time you will come to appreciate what it can do for you and will want to do it every day since it makes everything easier for you. Now, I think you should start doing that and come to your conclusion, since it doesn't matter what I tell you, you can only know if I'm telling you the truth by doing it, so start practicing, If you are not already doing it. Before I started doing it, my day used to be hectic, loaded with problems, and I had no clue as to how to achieve peace, until one day I found how to do meditation, and that made my day way but way easier, Right now I am doing much more than I used to do, I am working twice as many hours as I used to, I am taking care of other things also that I didn't do in the past, I sleep half the time I used to sleep, and yet have more energy than ever before. My day goes by smoothly, I do not have the hectic days I used to have, and at the end of the day, I'm not as tired as I used to be in the past. Start doing this, follow the guidelines, and one day you find yourself in a position that, you'll be asking yourself, how did I get here? Then you will remember what you are reading right now. There are many benefits you derive by doing meditation, but, as I said before, yoga means union, in this case with the Supreme being, and meditation is the ultimate form of worshiping the Supreme being. The only thing is, meditation is not a thing you do whenever you feel like it, you are supposed to do it every day to see the benefits, 7 days a week if possible, twice a day, when you get up and when you go to bed, every day, every week, every month, every year. Regardless of your religion, you can practice yoga, of which meditation is part of, it could be Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or any other religion, meditation is to be practiced In addition to it, you practice your religion and then add meditation.
